Back to Basics

Located just a five minute walk from Beesands beach in the South Hams region of Devon, Sugar Park enjoys exceptional views of Start Bay and the South Devon coastline. A true back-to-basics campsite, we have two beautifully clean toilets, and cold drinking water on site.  Other than that it's you and the views!

all are welcome

Kids, dogs, budgies... even the cows!

"Do you have showers?"

Afraid not!  Sugar park is a proper back to basics campsite.  We have two toilets (in a proper brick block) that we try to keep super clean and friendly (although you may get the odd critter visiting from time to time), a sink in each toilet, and clean drinking water available via taps located around the site.

"When are you open?"

At present Sugar Park campsite only opens from April through to the end of September. We may close the site during particularly rainy periods (the ground gets too wet!) and for the occasional private function.  Please check availability in advance before before travelling to avoid disappointment.

Peak season is 1st July to 30th September; all other times are off peak.

You are totally spoilt for choice when it comes to the local beaches near to Sugar Park.

Within just a few minutes walk is Beesands beach situated next to the historic village of Beesands.  Largely unchanged for decades, Beesands continues to be a working fishing village, and is a fabulous place to visit for the day. A fantastic lunch or dinner can be had in either the Cricket Inn or Brittania on the Beach. (Please note that there is a hill down to the beach so, for those with limited mobility, this may be a consideration as it’s a little steep on the way back!)

A little known fact, Keith Richards' family regularly spent holidays at Beesands during the 1950s. Keith Richards and Mick Jagger's first public performance was at The Cricket Inn in the village.

Other popular beach destinations locally include:

  • Hallsands

  • Slapton Sands

  • Blackpool Sands

  • Bantham

  • Hope Cove

  • Thurlestone

  • Mattiscombe
